Where Compassion Becomes Action
Hi, I’m Tina — the founder of Small’s Sanctuary. I’ve been vegan and plant-based for nearly 20 years, but my respect for animals began long before that. I believe deeply that if we truly paid attention to the lives and experiences of animals, we’d recognize their suffering as something no being should endure — simply because they are not human.
Small’s Sanctuary was officially founded in 2025, but it has lived in my heart for years. This sanctuary was created to give animals — especially those neglected, exploited, or discarded — a chance to live free from harm. We rescue individuals from slaughterhouses, high-kill shelters, and dangerous or neglectful conditions, offering them a life of safety, respect, and peace.
Our Philosophy
At the core of our work is a simple belief: all sentient beings deserve moral consideration. If an animal can suffer, that suffering matters. A pig is no different from a dog. A cow grieves the loss of her calf just as deeply as any human mother would. A chicken will run to you for comfort the same way a child does. The idea that some animals are “pets” and others are “products” is a tragic misunderstanding — a flaw in perception that we aim to challenge and change.
The idea that some animals are companions while others are commodities is not based on logic or ethics — it’s a cultural illusion we challenge every day. At Small’s Sanctuary, we reject speciesism and strive to treat every animal with the dignity they inherently deserve.
Change doesn’t come through judgment — it comes through understanding. We aim to foster that understanding through education, experience, and empathy. When people connect with animals not as “things,” but as individuals with lives that matter, it shifts everything.
